How is Heart-centered breathing different from other breathwork?

Most breathwork techniques focus on paying attention to the breath, becoming aware of the quality of the breath ... sometimes creating specific patterns with the inhalation and exhalation.

The HeartMath® Method begins in the same way, encouraging the breath to become a little slower and deeper, which helps to calm the mind. Then we bring awareness to the area of the chest, imagining that the breath is flowing in and out of the heart, inviting a feeling of calm and a sense of inner ease.

How does the HeartMath® Method create a positive mindset?

Research has shown that when we consciously activate and anchor a positive feeling or emotion in the Heart while continuing the slower, deeper breathing, the Mind starts to automatically align itself with the rhythm of the Heart's energy, creating more mental clarity and positive thoughts.

Is the Heart more powerful than the Mind?

It is a proven fact that the heart sends much more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. The signals that the heart sends to the brain affect the cognitive centers involved in decision-making, problem-solving, creativity and self-regulation.

What is Coherence?

Our heart rhythms are affected by the emotions that we are experiencing in the moment. Negative emotions such as anxiety or frustration create chaotic and jerky heart rhythms causing our nervous system to become chaotic and incoherent. We are out of sync and not in alignment.

When we are able to create smooth and flowing heart rhythms by activating and anchoring positive, renewing emotions such as appreciation and gratitude, we bring our hearts and minds into alignment, creating a state of coherence ... our physical and mental functions become enhanced.

Is the HeartMath® Method difficult to learn?

Many people struggle with quieting their mind and preventing their thoughts from racing during mediation. The HeartMath® techniques are simple to learn and even beginners can easily activate a sense of inner calm and peace during their very first experience.

How long does it take to experience the benefit of Heart-centered Breathing?

Participants are often surprised and delighted with how quickly they can experience a positive outcome, often instantly.
